Star Wars Cake

My DS has his birthday next week and we're having two parties. A 'birthday tea' on the day for family (will probably be more a 'casual meal' as it'll be 16 people) and that needs to have meat, dairy and wheatfree options (all together). Then the birthday party (and party tea for DS and 3 friends) is the day after. I'd like to make a Star Wars cake for one or the other but am lacking inspiration as to how to decorate it (and don't want to buy a 'cake topper').

Any ideas?!

Use Star Wars lego? Or is that cheating?

I've made a cake in the form of a light sabre before. That was easy...
I made a huge swiss roll and the covered one end in blue icing and the other end in silver/grey, then add the details with writing icing.

Lightsabre could work!

I'm also doing a train cake though that uses swiss rolls (bought).

How easy is it to make your own?!

really easy, cos it doesn't have to be perfect
You make the sponge in a swiss roll tin, but a shallow roasting dish would do, roll it up and off you go.
