I am looking for something unusual - different from the plastic games and toys that break before they get home. Maybe some nice bits and pieces that the kids can keep (games or whistles...)?

I need unisex ones for 5 year olds.

Any ideas?

Budget? Quantity?

Try Baker Ross for some slightly 'different' stuff, or hunt for interesting lots on ebay?

I need about 20 - but maybe more. You know how it is... the odd sister or brother turns up on the day (one of my pet peeves!).

Can you make cloth bags? MIL is pretty nifty with a sewing machine and they would look great. I think. Or would kids not go for that?

Just looked at Baker Ross - I LOVE THIS!!! Just the right mix of stuff and really good price.

I really miss Woolies... sob.

georgiemum wrt cloth bags can I just say this...

DS1 went to a pal's party where the mum (my very creative and brilliant friend) had made cloth bags for them to decorate with fabric pens. They all loved it and the designs were fab.

DS1 took his to Gran's this weekend to keep his special toys in (and when we left anxiously asked "have you got my bag?") - the party was nearly 5 years ago... and he clearly still treasures the bag!
