We are having a 1st birthday party for our son next month.

Weather permitting it will be a garden party as we have quite a nice garden. There will be lots of other 12 month-ish old babies and a few 3/4 yr olds and obv their parents.

I was thinking about having it from 3-4pm... what does everyone think? Has anyone been to any disasterous 1st bday parties? ie. all babies screaming etc!

I usually meet my Mum friends in the morning from about 10am-1pm and this always goes well with minimal crying etc but was thinking this is a bit of an odd time for a party :s

Any general advice from those more experienced most welcome!!

Rachel

Sorry we are having a party with friends, godparents etc as we do not have much family in UK- already planned - just wanted some advice on timings from people who have done similar.

sorry rachel. just trying to say- keep it simple .

tbh I'd do it in the morning when the 1yr olds are more likely awake and alert and going to enjoy it. also means that your adult guests can enjoy the party with you then continue on with their day rather than hanging around waiting for an afternoon party running the risk they might arrive with tired babies / toddlers.

I would say have the party to fit in with the babies naps. If you already know that 10-1pm is a good time then go with that as 3-4pm time might be nap time or tea time, ie possibly meltdown time! The babies will have no idea that it's a weird time for a party!

Have a fun day!
