DD's party today - all went well, everyone came and I loved her Victorian Lady cake :)

was DD's 7th birthday party at the farm, Victorian themed, this afternoon. The weather was very very windy and wet in places, even with a hint of snow, lol!

But we had a great time. The children all seemed to enjoy themselves, and DD was really impressed with her sponsorship of Lily the Lamb

We had the cake made, based on the same clothes worn by DD herself, by the wife of an ex colleague of mine. DD loved it. Photos of cake on my profile

We had no no shows. Everyone turned up and had a good time.

And I am now sat with a glass of wine, surrounded by chaos of presents and remainders of party fun, with BIL and SIl here - and relax!!!

She is so excited, I am just panicking about the clocks. She only has 2 coming from school and she would be gutted if they didnt come.

We had quite normal food, but served on disposible 3 tier stabds. We had:

  • finger sandwiches, crustless of course
  • pots of humus and veggie sticks
  • scones with cream and jam
  • mini pieces of chocolate brownie, millionaire's shortbread and mini Victoria sponge cakes. (all homemade which is first for me!)
  • half dipped strawberries
  • popcorn
  • crisps

Party bags were plain cotton ags. Inside was a bag of craft bits to deorate the bag such as fabric crayons, stickers and ribbons, a small pot of bubbles and a bag of sweets such as lollies, etc.

Where did you get the stands from please? Dd2's birthday soon and we always have to do chcolate fondue - tiered stands would be a great way of serving all the dipping bits.

That party sounds fab! I have a 7wo DS and don't know how on earth I'll get the inspiration for this sort of thing when it comes to parties.

Cake looks amazing as does your lovely little DD!

hulababy, i can't believe your girl. she looks soooo grown up! it feels like 5 mins ago she was a wee cute 3 yr old!

Hulababy · 28/03/2009 21:04

I got them on ebay here, but most cake shops do them. We tied pink and blue ribbons to them to make the fit our colour scheme.

Think we may try and cut into the cake today. Seems a shame to cut it!
