My DD is going to be 3 in August. What is normal practice for birthday parties when child is born in middle of summer holiday - have it anyway even though lots of friends away? Or at end of summer term/beginning of autumn term? She's at nursery now so not a huge deal but come next year it will be...

We have this to consider with dd(3) we got arond it by having a "birthday party" camping with her dc's who she rarely sees and absoluetely adores. However this year I don't think that will wash will watch and wait!!!

Hmm... We are thinking about this too. Ds will be 5 in August. I'm thinking of inviting the whole class plus friends and family which will equate to about 50 . I should think that only about half will come because of holidays etc. If hardly anyone comes next year we will have the party before the school holidays.

We invited a few friends from nursery for his 3rd and 4th birthday and they all came but like us because they were still at nursery they were having their summer holidays in June or September.

We don't have them because I am too much of a slack mother to get anything arranged before they break up for the hols!
I have 3 with August birthdays!

not having them is tempting... I wonder if could risk asking whole year and seeing who makes it! just wondered what people normally did when birthdays fall in july or august really - thanks
