I'm new to all this party thing - we're doing a party for dd1 is going to be 3. We're going to hire a hall and we're just going to games/messing about and then a birthday tea - what timings should I do??

45mins when they first arrive for playing. 30 mins food, then another 45 mins play. That makes 2 hours and more than enough time with lots of 3 year olds!

I favour a short party - 1.5 hours (2 at the most). That is ages for most 3 year olds.

The first hour children arriving, games etc. The last half hour or so teatime and distributing party bags.

An hour (ime) is plenty long enough for games/running around etc.

We did a tea party at home 3.30pm-5pm.

I agree - no longer than 2 hours. A bit of play, some food, a bit more play, bye bye hometime

I'd be tempted to do 11-1pm for a 3 yr old. Play in morning, party lunch then home. Parents collapse in heap

2 hours would be fine for a 3 year olds party but no longer and make sure you have some music on to keep them going !!
