Choosing a party entertainer

I'm planning dd2's 4th birthday party. Which would be better:

  1. Professional party entertainer with 'full works' including rabbits, bubbles, puppets etc - I've had a few quotes and they seem to charge £120- £150.
  1. Friend of a friend who does magic for children's parties as a sideline and only asks for a donation to charity as payment. He was at dd2's friend's party in Jan and did a good show which everyone enjoyed. I'm not sure how much it matters that dd2 and several of her friends have already seen him perform, IYSWIM.

I've gone for option 2.

Why not tell the friend they saw the first one and if theres anyway they have a 2nd act or performance? or if they can differ it slightly?

would save you some money?!

2 right choice, it's tried and tested and children enjoy repetition.Charity donations a good thing - charities need all they can scrape in these times
