we have hired a hall and have a decent music system that we can take with us. we also have some flashing lights and will splash out on a disco ball.

we will probably do nail varnish, tatooes and maybe face paints.

but...i'd love some ideas for dance games/ routines that dont involve me getting up and doing the macarena in front of everyone. i dont mind organising the conga, but as dance routines go, the birdy song is about my limit

obviously, they will spend most of the time milling about / chatting, but would like to do organised dancy type games at some point, to get them all joining in.

any ideas? tia x

have a look for some of the disco Cd's that have a DVD as well they have the dance moves to the songs on the cd. you could put them on a screen for them to follow

Limbo fun and easy to do - at our parties, kids usually want to do it a couple of times. Take a feather boa or scarf along to do it.

Actually macarena is a real favourite with 6 - 8 year old girls, so I'd say go for it!

Musical bumps

Musical islands (pieces of newspaper on the floor instead of chairs and more than one person allowed to squeeze on.)

Musical statues

Limbo is a fab idea!
Dd is having a disco party in a couple of weeks (she'll be 5 so a bit younger) and I've been wondering the same things. We're going to do the traditional pass the parcel, musical statues and we've also requested that the Hokey Cokey, Macarena, Conga and Time Warp are played. Dd is obsessed with Girls Aloud so hopefully she'll be happy just dancing. Chuck in a couple of balloons, half an hour for food and hopefully they'll be fine!
