I am busy trying to organise my friend's hen do.

Its in April and is in Edinburgh. She is 23 and loves pampering and the finer things in life, but is very down to earth.

It would probably be about 10-15 people, including her Mum and Aunty and mostly 20-25 year old girls from work.

As the younger girls do not have a lot of money, probably mostly being on £10k per year, I want to make it special without costing the earth so that people can't afford to go!

I was thinking of a glamorous theme, so having us all dressed up for a meal in a nice restaurant on the Saturday night, a bit Sex and the City style.

Does anyone know any good places to stay or see or do in Edinburgh?

Or some games, cute things to do to let her know we care and have some fun, especially as some of the girls won't know each other?

Thanks in advance for your help ladies.

Don't have any local info as I am near london but here are a a couple of ideas.

Last year was my hen night and we went to a comedy club. Ours was Jongelours and I know they have various ones around the uk. They did a deal where it was about £18 each (or cheaper if it was fri rather than Sat), all got a free smirn off ice, decorated table, t-shirt for the hen, ballons, A cake for the hen (big enough for everybody to have a slice). The comedy is for a couple of hours and then you have like a "club" bit after where you all have a dance etc? You can eat there too.

My Sisters was they year before and we went on a Party boat on the thames (I know you are not in the same area but might have something similar). You could have food (we didn't) but then you have a disco type thing on the boat with a bar etc.

for my best friend's hen night we had a book that we all wrote in how we met her, favourite times etc and I asked all the girlies to bring a photo of themselves with her that I stuck in with the comments. She loved it and still reads through it.

Have little tasks related to you knowing her, my other friend had to irish dance in a club, kiss waiters and we actually got her to do the lift from dirty dancing with a friend on the tube to a packed carriage who joined in singing hey big spender....

My bf had a thing about vicars so I made a dog colar with black felt attatched and she had to get her picture taken with 20 'vicars' which was very funny.

We made an edible garter out of a string of sweets and she had to get ment o eat them off her....

For my sister I made her a CD and asked all the hens to give me an MP3 of a song that reminded them of her or a good time they shared together. Some I had to buy from itunes. She loved it and still listens to it, and it didnt cost much.

For another friend we all bought her pressies that cost below 3 quid for her marriage or honeymoon, all beautifully wrapped. Some of them were hilarious.

If everyone doesnt know each other, do a round robin of who they are and how they met the hen and then their funniest/most embarrassing story about her. You learn a lot!

Try and get a set menu for set price for the meal and get the money in advance. One I went to recently it took 50 minutes to sort out the bill, very boring!
