fancy dress for 9 month old girl

DD's been invited to a few parties and fancy dress is optional, but I think fun.

I dont want to buy a ready made outfit, I would rather try and make something. Any ideas of what or where I can look for ideas and help?

My dd went to a fancy dress party when she was 12 months old, my mum made her a fairy costume, she wore white tights and a long sleeved white baby vest, my mum made a skirt with some netting and we bought some fairy wings.
