Party ideas please!

We're holding a small party for ds's first birthday, having lots of (grownup !) family and a few of his little friends, who vary in ages from a few months younger than him to about 7 years old, probably about 6 of them, maybe as many as 10.

Any ideas for some games, food anything! We'd like to play a few party games but we're worried we'll bore the older ones and it'll all be too advanced for the babies!

You could play pass the parcel. Sit the little ones on the adults laps to get them to take part.

Have a bubble machine on the go and see who of the older children can pop the most. Let them take turns and reward with a pressie!

Have a treasure map with squares on it and get the kids to pick a square to guess where the treasure is (even little ones can plop their finger somewhere on the map!). Prize for the nearest/winner.

Hunt the chocolate/sweets - either hide in the garden in bushes etc or round the house if it's wet.

Sleeping Lions? Musical statues?

Very difficult to think of games that suit both 1 yr olds and 7 yr olds!!

You could just a few things out to do for the older ones, like colouring or stickers...

Still thinking....!

How about Hunt the Thimble type games - cut out a few pictures & hide round the house - littles ones have to find Teddies or something hidden in easy places, older ones have to find other pics hidden in slightly harder places?

For my ds 1st birthday we had a huge variety of ages from a small group of 1 year olds to cousins and friends at 8 yrs going on to adults / grandparents. We just let the young ones play with toys together while the older ones made friendship bracelets together ... it sounds a bit of a split party but it worked really well, very relaxed and all gathering together for food.
