Belle cake, making one?

I am thinking of making a birthday cake for my dd who will be 6 in a couple of weeks.

I was going to use a belle doll in the middle with 2 sponge cakes for the dress and use icing for the dress.

what does everyone think? will this be easy?

Yes...it should be fairly easy i think.
If not..then hobbycraft do a set with all the things you need to make one just like it

My mil made one the other week - she made a sponge in a round pudding dish - covered it with frilly yellowy gold icing then stuck an actual barbie or dolls top torso in it with head of course - hey presto!

Sounds good and easy enough.

I made a highly effective Belle cake (if I say so myself) when DD was 4. Regular sponge cake mixture baked in a Pyrex pudding basin, then covered it with yellow fondant icing and piped decorations on with one of those ready-prepared icing pen things from Sainsbury's. Then stuck the half-Barbie-on-a-spike thing in, which cost me about £2 from the cake decorating shop. I am so bad at this sort of thing you wouldn't believe, so if I can do it, anyone can.
