One of the Mothers at DS' school had a beautiful outfit on, all turquoise silk and embriodery - looked fab DS was spellbound.

so who can tell what was in the Jewish calendar yesterday? My DD was most jealous that one of the girls in class missed part of school to go to the synagogue.

Can I hijack and ask a question about Ramadan? Noticed a Muslim woman I know has been wearing a head covering recently - she doesn't usually and I've never noticed her wearing one during Ramadan before but wondered if it was connected. or could it signify a death in the family or something?

ChopsTheDuck · 02/10/2008 09:39

maybe she was going/on her way back from the mosque. I know some only wear it then.

GrapefruitMoon · 02/10/2008 09:40

No, she has been wearing it whenever I've seen her - and so has her sister.

Grapefruit - some muslim women don't wear scraves except at mosque and some only wear it sometimes and some are working themsleves up to wearing it all the time. Like me!
I only 'came out' to my mum last week.

I was just worried that maybe a relative had died (I know one was ill recently) - it's very different to how she usually dresses iyswim and yes of course maybe she has decided to cover her hair all the time now but the fact that her sister has also started covering made me wonder... plus it looks different to the hair coverings her mum wears

Yesterday was Jewish New Year I think.

We had Eid cards made at nursery on the same day they were doing the dipping apples in honey thing for Jewish New Year - love it!
