How about a wooden carving of something or other? My local slightly-lentil-weavy shop has lots of little wooden carvings that are fab

Jackstini · 20/08/2008 10:16

Nice tree for the garden? Pref one that flowers around your anniversary.

DrNortherner · 20/08/2008 10:17

A hard on?

mistypeaks · 20/08/2008 10:17

Bonsai Tree? Symbolic too.

nailpolish · 20/08/2008 10:19

a rolling pin

MamaG · 20/08/2008 10:21

LOL at rolling pin

EachPeachPearMum · 20/08/2008 11:45

It's our 5th this year too- so need suggestions.
I thought of wooden cufflinks so far- booring!

babycat · 20/08/2008 12:33

I'm watching this thread with interest.

It's our 5th wedding anniversary on 13th September and I've got no ideas at the moment. Quite like the idea of a tree as Jackstini & mistypeaks suggested as he likes gardening.

I did think of getting some sex toys along the theme of 'wood' . We could certainly do with something to spice up our relationship at the moment!

hana · 20/08/2008 12:35

tree for garden - that's what dh got me, was a gorgeous Japanese maple. Love it.

eleanorsmum · 20/08/2008 18:09

thanks for all the suggestions!

Tree - garden way too small and he wouldn't really want one!

bedroom bits - not me

wooden cufflinks - got too many already!

so any more

please!

My Dh professes he would like some kind of wood working tool i.e. a jigsaw/sander. Appropriate(ish) useful and manly. I can only apologise that I don't have a romantic bloke who would love a rolling pin to make "you a beautiful meal that you deserve darling"!!!

EachPeachPearMum · 21/08/2008 10:53

Umm- DH is an 'absent-minded professor' type.... power tools are way too dangerous

We don't do knick-knacks or ornaments, am struggling.

mistypeaks · 21/08/2008 11:36

How about a wooden pencil box or pen holder to keep at home for the dreaded 'marking'?

bubblagirl · 21/08/2008 11:54

try here

Jackstini · 21/08/2008 22:34

Wooden photo album with 5 years of precious memories?

2HotCrossBunnies · 21/08/2008 22:41

Ooh Babycat it's my 5th wedding anniversary on 13 Sept too!! Also struggling - there's almost too much choice with "Wood", previous years were much easier!
Like the idea of a Bonsai tree so far...

pollywobbledoodle · 21/08/2008 22:45

tickets to "go ape"

mistypeaks · 22/08/2008 11:42

I'm directing someone over here that may well be able to help (clever lady she is!)

Whizzz · 22/08/2008 11:55

I've been making wooden tiles with pictures on. So far have made them for pendants but could also make cufflinks with a picture drawn by your DD. Or I am also toying with the idea of keyrings with pictures on
YOu can see what I did here for Mistypeaks

mistypeaks · 22/08/2008 12:10

And it is truly gorgeous in the 'flesh'

Whizzz · 22/08/2008 12:30

Thanks Misty - I should have taken a better photo of the finished tile

EachPeachPearMum · 23/08/2008 14:56

WHizzz- they're great! But DD is a little too young to do a picture just yet

Clary · 23/08/2008 21:09

I got DH an apple tree.

New wooden number for house.

wooden fruit bowl?

How about a day out somewhere woody - eg the National Forest, or a weekend break in the Forest of Dean/New Forest???

Thomcat · 23/08/2008 21:13

Wooden picture frame with pic of you and kids in it?

Arrange to have children looked after and go for a walk through the woods and take 2 glasses and a bottle of bubbles with you.

Clary · 23/08/2008 21:21

Oh that's a FAB idea Thomcat!
