Hello!

DDs first birthday soon ish and we're lloing forward to being able to spoil her a bit. (not had christening so not had family party to welcome her yet....)

We have some ideas but wondered what you guys have done for your kids that have been fun and special but not broken the bank.

Thanks

Get family and friends together and go for a big picnic in the park in this nice weather.

Save your money for when your DD knows it's her birthday

Well we had a naming ceremony/welcome party for our 3 on their 1st birthdays.

The 1st 2 we had at a leisure centre, followed by swimming for the kids and then food. For the last one, we had moved so we had the party in the village hall with a ball pool and bouncey castle as we had lots of kids of different ages and food.

I think have the party you want but only if it is not going to stress you out. Don't hold a big do if you are not going to enjoy preparing for it, can't afford it or its going to turn into a family nightmare.

We had a huge bbq in our garden for dd1 (early sept baby so nice weather) people wandered in and out so never felt 'packed' with people, lots of friends and their dc early on and family later.

~Helium ballons were a hit with the kids and just generally leaving toys out (put a gazebo up with blankets/cushions and toys for lo's

My ds will be 1 on August 2nd. I have booked his party today. We were planning a garden party, BBQ etc for family and friends and hire bouncy castle etc but if the weather is poop then we;d have a house full of toddlers to entertain so have decided on an indoor soft play party. Have booked the disco room from 10.30-12.30. A cold buffet is provided, sandwiches, fruit, carrot sticks and dips, healthy snacks etc and party bags. He loves climbing around the soft play ans is on the brink of walking so i think he'll love it. We live away from our home town/family so its going to be nice for everyone to see ds as alot havent seen him since Easter.
