What are your favourite ideas for a memorable children's birthday party?

I'm looking for ideas to make a child's birthday party special without making things too complicated. What themes, decorations, games, or invitation ideas have worked well for your family? Do you prefer traditional paper invitations or digital ones that can be shared online? I'd love to hear your experiences and suggestions!

Prefer a what’s app invite myself. Much easier to respond and check details. Hate party bags with crap. A piece of cake is enough or we have had books etc.

easiest parties are soft play where I get to relax with a coffee. Theme wise we went to a ghostbuster party where the hosts dressed up and led the party. Also went to a party in a village hall where all the adults got domino’s.

How old is the child?

My advice is to make sure there’s plenty to do. Bored children get into mischief! Whether that’s endless balloons to run around a hall with or soft play.

I like a traditional children’s entertainer in a village hall
or garden where as many children as you like can be invited - school friends, club friends and family, and then a big table with party food. The theme can be whatever that child chooses, I don’t think it makes much difference unless it directly influences the activity. I love a big cake and a party bag.

My ds recently went to a party, with traditional games like pass the parcel, pin the tail on the donkey ect, then they asked the local ice cream van to come instead of party bags everyone got a ice cream/ lolly, it was really nice.
One party last week had a visiting mini zoo, quite frankly it was awful as there was 40 plus sugar filled kids all wanting to look and touch these animals, the snake did a poo all down one of the kids and the spider got loose sending a few kids and parents off screaming 😱
