Chicken Pox

My daughter was due to have her 5th Birthday party on 28th Feb. On 21st Feb she came out in chicken pox. I've since had an army of parents tell me she will be fine for her party (7 days between first rash and actual party day) but I have cancelled due to the risk of her not being fully scabbed over. Even if she was I feel that she would be embarrassed about the spots on her face as they are upsetting her now. Have I done the right thing? Would there be a chance she would be fit and well? What are others experience? How long did it take your child to scab over. Pic is day 2 spots so not at our peak yet.

Can you postpone rather than cancel?

Definitely postpone - some of those same parents who are saying go ahead, could be unknowingly pregnant. And then won’t thank you if they get Chickenpox.

Postpone. My DNephew is currently getting his rash checked for chickenpox and will be at home otherwise and presumably his older brother if he shows symptoms.
