Doing indivual pots of jelly for B'day party - good idea? bad?

put mandarin orange segments in them and set them in layers of colour (if you can be arsed )

Good idea to do them (from what I have seen at parties they go down a storm, although my DS1 wont touch Jelly the little b*gger...). Agree put bits of fruit in or even a blob of squirty cream on top before you serve them up (no idea what nasties are in squirty cream as not had it in years but used to love it when I was a nipper).

If you can be bothered, get clear plastic cups, and do layers. TBH i have done this several times and now I don't bother because it's only my DC that seem to like jelly. And it make a messy old mess too.

Ice cream + sprinkles is far easier and more popular.

and/or put sweets (jelly worms etc) in them just before they set - good for the amusement of small boys, perhaps not so great for pretty-princess type girls

thanks all great ideas - I had assumed jelly would be less messy than ice-cream but I guess anything liquidy is likley to end up messy - now I know why seasoned party organisers do neither ice-cream or jelly thanks

I try to send them out in the garden with an ice cream cone.
