Advice please - giving out party invitations

Help, I'd like some advice please re the best way to give out party invitations - I am getting irrationally stressed by this!

DS is in reception and we are to have a simple party at home. Can't afford to invite the whole class of 30 (not enough money or space!) so will just invite 10 or 12.

I don't like the thought of ds handing out invitations in front of non-invited children as this has happened to him and I know it can make children (and maybe their parents?) feel a bit crap.

Should I ask the teacher to add them to their book bags (and take the chance that the book bags are not actually emptied in time....)?

What do others do?

TIA

I would hand them to the parents if you know them.

our teachers will hand out at end of school - dh gave dd1's over for them to do this but beware that they may end up with the wrong child or go missing.

we had issue where the wrong caitlyn got the invite because the correct one was sick that day!

In similar circumstances I've got to school as early as possible and put the invites into the kids' trays/drawers. Parents have then found them when sorting out book bags etc.

Thanks for your suggestions, I do know a couple of the mums but others not at all, particularly the ones whose dc's go to breakfast & after school clubs.

For these I think putting the invites straight into the kids trays is a good idea - but will definately put surnames on the invites to (hopefully) avoid any potential confusion!

Give to teacher to put in bookbags, well in advance of party. And don't forget your contact number for RSVPs

I've just discreetly handed them to mums in teh past. Schools are oftne loathe to get involved in party invitations. Pain in teh neck.

Thanks for the ideas - it's a ridiculous thing to worry about, but the whole party thing brings me out in a cold sweat!
