Children’s birthdays close together near Christmas

Hi all, my two eldest children have birthdays on 22nd December and 6th January. We’re not having a party for them this year, as I want to do something nice as a family instead. I was thinking of doing something joint on the 27th December, but then what do I do on their actual birthdays? They will both go back to school on my son’s birthday anyway, so should I just give them presents, cake and balloons etc on their actual birthdays? I’m so stuck on what to do as their birthdays are 2 weeks apart and so close to Christmas and new years

Have you asked them what they would like to do? I'd just do presents and cake on their actual birthdays

Ask them, we are a family with 4 birthdays within a week of Xmas, we did something they wanted to do on their actual Birthdays, don’t fall into the trap of lumping them together.

DH has a birthday close to Christmas. Please ask them.

I did ask them, they both said they wanted to do something jointly. I just wasn’t sure what to do on their actual birthdays, as I still want it to be celebrated and not just another normal day, if that makes sense

Most kids don't have birthdays in the holidays so just have cake and presents on their birthday and then party at the weekend. So your plan sounds pretty normal.

Balloons, cake and presents on the day and their 'celebration' somewhere in the middle. I think that's quite normal, most kids have their party/day out/celebration on a different day to their actual birthdays .

If you want to make more of a thing of it, I'd invite a couple of close friends over on their actual birthdays to join in for a party style tea and cake.
