My DS1 is 6 in 2 wks and doesn't like parties much, but has asked to take 5 friends to the cinema. So we thought we'd do some party food at home and then take them to see a kiddies film. I checked on the internet and phoned the cinema but they can't tell me what's on until the Tuesday before the Saturday. They said to put film to be confirmed, but how can i put times on the invitation etc.. has anyone else done this sort of celebration and can they offer any extra ideas for the celebs? Thanks

Hi dancey, I was just going to start my own thread about this! My ds will be 5 in three weeks and he wants to take 4-5 friends to the cinema instead of a big party (phew!!).

I have already spoken to the parents in question to let them know this is what we're doing and that it will be a morning show (they usually start at 10:30-11am every weekend at our local cinema) and we'll go for some food afterwards at the pizza place next door. You could have a look at what's on atm and put a rough time for now on the invite and that you'll be more specific nearer the time about the actual film and start time. I think most parents who've been to the cinema before with dc's have an idea of the children film times (ie. before lunch).

I'm slightly different to you in that we're having food aftewards at a restaurant and I'm not sure about the following:

  1. for 5 year olds, do you expect them to go to the cinema without their parents or would I be looking at paying for one parent per child aswell? (I was assuming the boys would be dropped off at the cinema and the parents go off and do some shopping in the mean time or whatever?)
  1. Was thinking I might just ask one other mum to attend with me and the 5 boys. Do you think this is too few adults?
  1. Finally, do you ask parents to come back after the show finishes or after the food? ie. should I plan to feed the odd parent aswell?

Hope you don't mind me tagging this on, Dancey! I'm hoping all I have to do this time round is just make a cake and do party bags!
