I'm not sure whether to laugh at this or shake my head in disbelief. Last year it was sweets and popcorn. I don't usually do this sort of thing, but DD had a rubbish birthday last year as I was having a baby so I thought I'd be nice this year, it being her 13th and all.
I had intended to order pizzas for DD's 13th birthday party tomorrow - gourmet if you don't mind, but I have been informed that so-and-so only eats healthy food like salad (sounds like an adopted persona to me, but if it's true then good for her) and so-and-so is vegetarian and so-and-so eats salad but hates mayonnaise so don't put any on the salad... Blah blah. It seems they want a "grown up" party, but of course I still have to cater to children's tastes.
Am doing Tesco shop online. Help me Mumsnet.
Am doing chicken skewer-y type things, salad (but with constituent parts all separate so no moaning), honeyed cocktail sausages. Making birthday cake (Nigella's Tropical Chocolate Cake as chosen by DD ), a few other cakey/ sweet bits, putting (gourmet) crisps on the table for snacks, breadsticks etc.
Need ideas for:
Vegetarian things in place of the other kids having chicken and sausages;
Anything else you think might actually get eaten by this lot.
(Please don't tell me I'm mad to be giving in to this - I already know...)
Many thanks!
