Going to have it in the garden and if it rains all run around screaming and lock all the doors.

Dp came up with village fete theme, with fabric bunting - which he claims he'll make , and pin the tail on the donkey and a cocunut shy and hot dogs and ice cream cones.

Thought I might do a crafty bit but not sure what - what other games are there? DD suggested making boats and floating them on the paddling pool - but how do you make boats?

And, and, I hate party bags - where can you get paper ones that they could decorate? What could you put in them that's cheap but not really crap?

you can make origami boats - great fun. They could decorate them and then float them round the paddling pool (they will sink eventually though!)

just a piece of cake and a bit of tat like bubbles and a balloon and a packet of sweets (or you can get those mini notebooks in packs from baker ross or wherever)

beg steal or borrow a gazebo or two.

Party bags on ebay. Let them decorate their own and carry around to put prizes in. Add cake at end of party.

paddling pool - plastic ducks with hooks in the top and a length of dowel with hook on end as fishing rod. Write on underside with permanent marker to indicate prize eg hair bobbles/pencil etc.

I always do icecreams - get some flakes and sauce and set up a stall.

there are better instructions

from a German site, with lots of IT MUST LOOK LIKE THIS lol

Shred paper & make a lucky dip in a dustbin or large box.

buzzer game

wouldn't bother with bunting tbh - very time consuming. Hang string across the garden and suspend balloons from it.

i have used these before

or carrier bags

Candy necklaces.

Strawberry bootlaces, plus hula hoops, mini pretzels, non Nestle Cheerio type things and any holey sweets you can find.

String together, prize of a toothbrush for the best one.

Do at the end so they all go home to be sick on a sugar high.

Cod will vouch for necklaces being a Good Idea - she did them at her ds3's birthday. Or ds2...or maybe it wasn't cod at all.....[amnesia]
