Hello,

it’s my baby’s first birthday next month.
We aren’t doing a party, maybe some cake with the grandparents.
I would like to get him a special gift however, something that maybe will be special when he’s turned 18 or something he will keep and maybe pass on to his own family one day if he has one.
No real budget in mind.

Can anyone share ideas for what they did? Or received themselves.

thanks in advance.

We bought each of our dc some Premium Bonds.

But then, we had a tea party and invited extended family round, and they were all given practical presents for 1 year olds from the extended family.

My DD is turning one next month, I am planning to buy her a lovely pair of earrings to keep for when she’s older and I think a special teddy maybe a jelly cat, a really nice jewellery box and then toys. Sorry I know you have a DS so this probably isn’t helpful

Gold, he could have it made in to jewellery as an adult.

Sovereign or other coin. I got my nieces and nephew a half sovereign each and the value has gone right up.

Or a coin set, the only Charles III coins in circulation are the 50p and the £1 but if you buy a set you get coins of every denomination. If you get the 2024 set you (your son) would have a set that included coins that will never be in circulation.
