40th birthday ideas please

Hi
its my DH 40th birthday soon. No idea what to get him as he buys what he needs. What have you bought your DH for their birthday? Anything memorable?
MIL is doing a photo book so can’t do that. We have young children so can’t really go away. He doesn’t like surprise parties either.

Special birthdays - I treated him to clothing at Cordings, as well as a visit to the shop, so train and lunch out (nothing fancy, just different lunch) and they tailored the jacket to fit perfectly, so a lovely experience and not cheap, but 12 years on still wearing the jacket / a MIG welding experience at a local foundry / specialised tools for his workship / a customised gear stick top for his car, which he has since made into a coffee tamper - not all the same birthdays I hasten to add! For his 60th, just invited a few people to a sunday lunch at a local pub, in our own area, so relaxed and fun, alongside a cake from M&S which the pub was very happy to serve and I did party bags for all the adults and this went down really well, as I did retro sweets and daft badges.
