Whether it was your own or someone else's, inspire me with the details of a 50th bday party you genuinely enjoyed. If it happened in a golf club I'm not interested btw. That's my one no-no venue, find them mega depressing!

Didn’t party but spent the money going skiing with my teens and had a fab time, and DH took me away for the night too. Do what suits you.

I'll be doing small things separately with closest girlfriends and family but it's ideas for a slightly bigger party e.g. for 30-40 people that I'm after. Don't mind spending a fair bit on it. Just would like ideas!

Mine! Grin

Love a good party, better in a hall or something similar.
My 60 next year, can't wait for the party 😆

One friend did a weekend away at a lovely hotel (we paid for ourselves - our rooms - but they paid for the big dinner). One friend threw a dinner for friends locally at a nice restaurant (they hosted everyone) and one friend cooked for us at home (a really small intimate dinner). All were absolutely brilliant.

Mine was in lockdown but suited me perfectly. DH arranged a private dining room in a local hotel and we had the best lunch - our DC, their partners and our grandchildren. It was so relaxed, yummy food and we all came home to spend the afternoon in the garden. Wouldn't have changed a thing.

A bring-a-dish meal at my friend's house; around 15 guests and an afternoon start with a tree planting, a pair of musicians playing a very sweet folk set in her living room with everyone singing along, a fire in the garden with anyone who fancied playing and singing, a massage therapist giving short seated sessions, and a collaborative piece of art being created as the evening wore on. Lots of talking and catching up. Lovely.

My mums was in the village hall, there was a cracking buffet, a cash bar, a dj and a live band. Oh and we all wore evening dresses/formal wear. It was absolutely wonderful!

I've enjoyed all the 50ths I've been to, which include:

Party in a hall with DJ and with buffet
Party at someone's house with buffet
Party at someone's house with curry
Party at someone's house with just drinks and nibbles (warned beforehand)
Afternoon tea
Barn Dance
Party at a hall with buffet and a singer was okay, but not as good as chance to either dance (as per first one) , or chat (as per house parties).
