Wine for party…

So we are hosting a party in a few weeks. I like wine and so do a few of the others but I don’t know what wine is good! There will be 6 of us, only 4 drinking wine but I want a selection.. white, red and bubbles but what do I get?! I’ve seen bottles they drink and noted them so I can get the same but what would you all recommend as a reasonable red and nice champagne and how much to spend?!

If you are hosting a party, would the guests not bring wine with them ?
Presumably most people would bring wine that they are partial to, if they are fussy.

Might depend on what you are eating. They probably will bring some, but as a base
