I am struggling to think of a good birthday gift for a close male friends 40th. Ideas so far include putting together a hamper of some of his favourite things with a bottle of something nice that I know he will enjoy. Or a restaurant voucher for the two of us to have a nice meal out. No special hobbies except usual sport but as I don't play I wouldn't know where to begin with that kind of gift or what he already has. Thought I'd post for inspiration
