Party food help!

My little one has just started reception, and we’re hosting his first proper birthday party with his new class friends in a couple of weeks 😅 We've sorted everything except the food!

We initially thought to serve hot dogs and chips, with pizzas as a secondary option but when I've mentioned this to a few people (friends and family) they've had a not so positive response. We will have veg sticks and crisps but id really rather not be making sandwiches all morning! Also, being October we were hoping to serve something hot...

We have a kitchen onsite at the venue which we can use (though chips may come from the local chippy) and the kids will be eating around 12.30.

For those of you who’ve done this before, what’s worked well for your kids’ parties? I want to keep it simple but fun for the kids.

Any advice would be amazing—thanks in advance! 😊

Chips, hot dogs and pizza sounds perfect. Kids would much prefer that to sandwiches.

Keep it very simple. I think pizza is fine. Do you know how to use the oven at the venue?

hot dogs and buns would be easy

I would do pizza as the main offering with hotdogs as a back up rather than the other way round. You might have veggie kids or those that don’t eat pork for religious reasons. In my experience most kids will eat margherita pizza!

We used vegetarian frankfurters by Vivall which I got from a local health food store meaning parents weren't worried about what was in the sausages and I could cater for a couple of vegetarian children without them eating different food. Buy some veggie ones now and try them. I can't find Tivall ones online anywhere so maybe they don't make them but there are plenty of other versions.

I think hot dog and/or pizza sounds great. I wouldn't do any chips just keep it simple.

Thanks for the replies everyone, glad to hear we weren't way off with the initial idea. And good point about checking how the oven works in advance, we have to go back to settle the balance next week so I'll make sure to ask whilst we're there!
