and by small i'm talking max of about 30 people, couldnt fit more then that in my house. Its not til July so trying to work out who would come and make sure that we can afford it,

Anyway was thinking rather then doing normal buffet type stuff was thinking of doing hot food, so maybe a huge lasagne, ratatouille chicken legs, but cant think of anything else that I could do. So should I do hot food or a small cold buffet instead.

Thanks

If July, could you BBQ? Serve with baked potatoes, lots of salads, nice bread etc?

Otherwise I think I'd do cold with a few hot bits

rice salad
pasta salad
quiche
caramelised onion & goats cheese tartlets (a speciality of mine )
devilled chicken legs
smoked salmon & cream cheese blinis
cold nice ham/beef/chicken/etc

Hot - maybe baked pots/roast pots (surprisingly go down v well I find),

It could be a lovely warm evening in July so I would do a few bits on the BBQ and some salads, garlic bread etc to top it up.

Get others to bring dessert to make it easier and cheaper for you.

It was my hubbys 40th last June and we had a barbi.

I did Terrayaki Chicken & Pepper Kebabs; salmon with lime & chili kebabs, really easy, got them prepared earlier in the day and then stuck them in the fridge. You always get volunteers for the barbi so someone else can watch them cook, if the weather is not good you can do under the grill

Oh and I always do Chocolate coated strawberries at parties, dip in good melted chocolate and put in fridge on baking tray covered in baking paper, the chocolate goes all crispy and I always get loads of compliments
