i made a butterfly cake for dd1's 2nd birthday. made a 6oz, 3 egg, chocolate victoria sponge and used chocolate mini rolls for the body. red licorice and dolly mixtures to decorate. icing - i used betty crockers frosting.

there's loads of ideas on this site just use the recipe finder.

Have you looked at

Debbie Brown's '50 Easy Party Cakes'

"Look here".

Thanks for all your messages, there are some fab ideas there that i'll probably try. I wanted to do something not too complicated this year and thought it'd be good to get some kind of book that i could keep using. I am totally in love with a princess castle one now though - might have set my sights a bit high for a first go but never mind...

I had seen that Australians womans weekly book so i may well get that too, it's good to know that it's worth the money!!

Thanks again, you are fab

Australian Women's Weekly is good if you are a fan of buttercream - coated cakes

Debbie Brown and Lindy Smith if you prefer that style of cake.
