BIG bbq party - any tips?

Thinking about doing a veggie* BBQ housewarming for about 100. Having got a few quotes [ouch] I think we might do it ourselves.

Am thinking about buying or hiring a couple of firepits and suggesting to the neighbour's teenagers that I'll tip them a tenner tending the food (they're also invited!) Plus plenty of big salad platters, baguettes and cheese. Those big plastic garden buckets of beer and soft drinks. Paper plates and plastic cups.

Does this seem doable? 100 people is a lot (tbh we might only get half the numbers). Any thoughts welcome.

*Veggie is relevant because it might make the bbq cooking rate slightly more complicated to judge?

Maybe supplement also with oven tray bakes, cooked over the previous few days and reheated? (So you can have lots ready). Roasted veg, feta, cous cous type stuff. If you’re cooking for 100 you need to use all your food-hotting devices I think!

I think it's doable but I wouldn't rely on teenagers to cook it all.

Thank you both :)

We have a barbecue for about 60 every year. I'd borrow gas barbecues if you can, the food will need cooking as quickly as possible with that many guests. Definitely get someone who knows what they're doing to cook.
Lots of people might offer to bring some food, take them up on the offer, but make sure you know what they're bringing.
Lots of drink!!!
We bought plates and glasses really cheaply from a local auction centre, but only cost effective if you might do it again.
Plans for if it rains?!!

How did the party go?
Previously, I've never relied on just the bbq as it never gets done in time, imo, Maybe that's just my husband and boys, who knows. Ive always had some other food.
