Catering for adults

I'm hosting my son's birthday party at a farm. They will do the catering for kids. I was hoping to take some sandwiches, wraps and samosas along with some crisps and dips as it'll be ending around 1 which is (nearly) lunchtime for many.

I'm thinking of ordering sandwiches and wraps from either M&S or Waitrose for a day prior for collection so that if something is not right I can fix it overnight.

Do you think that the sandwiches will stay fine overnight? Or would you suggest something else?

The farm is around 25 minutes drive. Party starts at 11 on a Sunday. Don't think I'll have time to collect it on the way on the day.

I think if you are serving sandwiches to guests anywhere, the sandwiches do need to be made on that day.
What are you expecting to need to 'fix' ? Confused

I mean, I don't think you need to cater for the parents at a children's party. If you want to, and would be too anxious about the sandwiches being collected on the day, then put out something different - 'just' samosas would be fine (and I say that as someone who doesn't like samosas). Or just crisps / nibbles / chees straws type of thing.

If it's ending around one, why on earth do you need to feed the parents? Surely they will have eaten before they come and collect, or they can wait till they get home?

Expecting to fix = if a couple of sandwiches don't look right or the entire thing has turned up gone bad then overnight to make something else happen.

I think I'd go with crisps for sure. What suggestions do you have for nibbles that can be prepped a day before and won't go bad?

And as for PP saying "why on earth" - very simple because I can afford to feed over 40 people at the party I'm hosting and also i would like to return the favour as many parents do at the parties i have attended so far. Also, I am a good person.

I called up M&S to ask about their "consume by date" they said they suggest that it should be consumed same day but won't be bad the next day - depends on how it's stored.

They also found me a store that opens up at 10 which would be on my way to the farm.

Does anyone know why Waitrose are not doing vegetarian sandwiches? It's appearing out of stock.

Only helpful suggestions please. 🙏🏻
