Birthday present DS8 - looking for ideas

DS will be 8 in December, two days before X’mas. This means an overload of presents every year.
He has some lovely presents in the last two years – camera, football table, dartboard, board games, some good clothes, many other things.
I can’t think of what to buy him this time around, he seems too old for toys. I might look into new board games. He has a physical disability so he can’t run or play sport otherwise I would have bought a new bike. I foolishly promised a Nintendo a few months ago, but now I wonder if it the right thing for him – I worry about screen time and battles over devices.
Mumsnetters, I would love your ideas. What did you give your eight year olds?
Is a Nintendo switch a bad idea?

What did you decide @Lily27? Is he getting the switch?

Still undecided but less inclined!! I’m looking into other options eg maybe buy a camcorder or something like that. But he will be disappointed

I have an 8 year old and we have a switch but it's for the family and we have well defined times he can play or not which works pretty well. We only get arguments over it when he's too tired to be playing anyway.
Board/card games he likes are ticket to ride, fluxx, mapominoes, labyrinth, the London game

Thanks for the ideas! I looked them up - decided to buy Labyrinth. I saw another good one online called Gravity Maze from Ravensburger. I wonder if he is a bit young for it though

Instead of Nintendo I bought a Fitbit! Hope it Will encourage him to walk for longer!!
