For children aged 2 to 7. I am going to make nice glittery and scented home made play dough and stick in a pretty cellophane bag. Piece of cake obviously.

A friend had fab eco friendly bath colour tablets, but I have tracked them down and they are 50p a pop

I have about 20 guests

any ideas please? how little can you get away with putting in the bag?

At my ds's party recently I put mini jars of jam in the party bags, and people are still talking about it! I bought them from the market at 1.50 for 6 - bargain!

dizzydixies · 11/03/2008 20:42

these?

cupsoftea · 11/03/2008 20:43

notepads, crayons, spinning tops, keyrings, those paper whistles that unravel when blowed (what are they called!), paper hats, some choc buttons, small mazes

PanicPants · 11/03/2008 20:44

pmsl at Greensleaves' suggestions although quite like the friendship bracelets.
Also I am going to 'steal' the beaker idea, with the cellaphane.

What about some cookie cutters?

dizzydixies · 11/03/2008 20:44

planes?

you get the gist?!?

WinkyWinkola · 11/03/2008 20:44

Yellow Moon is the answer. Lots of cheap crafty gits.

people are really stretching the 'non plastic tat' part of the request here

Ds would also be very impressed with a 'big ball'.

What about a 'novelty' balloon tied to party bag? Or buy a pot of dinosaurs/farm animals etc from ELC and split them.

lullabyloo · 11/03/2008 20:47

Franny...www.jellyandblancmange.co.uk

some nice ideas

how about cookie dough,a pastry cutter & a rolling pin
paper chefs hat?

tassisssss · 11/03/2008 20:47

so despite being plastic, we're ok with balls?

phew!

now I need to source super cheap ones!

FrannyandZooey · 11/03/2008 20:48

one party I went to recently had a lucky dip at the end full of pre-wrapped pressies......a box full for boys and same again for girls. fab idea, altho pricy for extra wrapping paper etc!

and then someone else told me about going to a wedding i think, where they had lots of bowls of sweets around, along with paper bags, and they helped them selves to the sweeties they liked. was like the old fashioned 1/4lb sweets in bottles that we could buy.

I have in the past gone to Claires and bought up loads of their little handbags in the sale and then filled them with sweeties, so they get a handbag for the gift, and the sweets that all kiddies expect of parties!!!!

another idea is to go buy up a load of value t-shirts and get them to decorate them at the party, and then obviously take their creation home.......one idea I got from sparkler on MN, and a huge hit with my girls.

ooh.......or you could go buy some of the 'decorate your own' egg cups, get them to decorate with name/flowers etc, and then add a cream egg/smarties egg/hollow chocolate egg even, if the party is going to be near easter. I did that for mine for an easter party last year......best easter party ever.

(oh before you ask....DD1 always has her b/day aroud easter, so tis for that mainly)

cupsoftea · 11/03/2008 20:55

would hesitate on the playdoh idea as many kids open their party bag in the car or as they walk home.

lullabyloo · 11/03/2008 20:55

No...not to buy
but nice ideas & ways they package things fun too

I would freeze in log shapes & wrap in greaseproof paper & tie with coloured string & add storing/baking instructions.
Is there a freezer at the hall?
could be popped into bags at the last minute?

FrannyandZooey · 11/03/2008 20:55

aha at ELC v pound shop distinction
you are right I am sure

god greeny would have me fashioning 25 dinosaurs out of fimo and crepe

OP posts:
PanicPants · 11/03/2008 20:57

Excellent F&Z, thats your answer 25 fimo dinosaurs - ticks all boxes

notnowbernard · 11/03/2008 20:57

What about those make-your-own planes that come in paper wrappers. Made of foam-y material.

I remember having them as a kid
