My best friend's little boy turns 8 next week - eeeek!

1.) I don't DO boys (have 3 DDs)

2.) I don't DO 8 year olds (DD's are all Pre-School)

What can I buy him that doesn't cost loads of money!!!?

Thank you!!

Science Museum kits like Weather Station or experiments , Dr Who stuff, bits from Fat Face or Quiksilver if he is into that sort of thing, voucher for Game or cinema

ingles2 · 08/03/2008 12:43

How much do you want to spend?

McDreamy · 08/03/2008 12:43

Horrible Science & related books, especially the annuals. Geomag or K'nex, book coupons, Horrid Henry books, 10 quid in cash or Woolies' voucher, Mars Mission Lego kit(s). Complicated maze book, world's best joke books, ghost stories.
Must admit, we have 3 sets of walkie talkies (all gifts) that no one plays with.

LifeIsHell · 08/03/2008 13:20

Oh, and drawing sets or similar. Gel pens with black paper. Writing or drawing notebooks. Anything Simpsons theme.

UnquietDad · 08/03/2008 13:31

Doctor Who figures, Transformers, Lego, Power Rangers.

McDreamy · 08/03/2008 13:31

Usbourne do some experiment books.

purpleduck · 08/03/2008 13:34

ds is 8, and he loves cash so he can choose his own or save up.

He bought himself some of those strap-on wheels last week and he LOVES them (he got his from The Works (bookshop) and they are surprisingly good (£3.99 i think)

lego

sciency stuff as mentioned

Are you close to him? Could you take him to the cinema of something - ie) do something he likes to do with him?

CaptainDippy · 08/03/2008 14:07

Excellent, thank you Perhaps a cinema token!!? Mmmmmm ... strap-on wheels sound cool!! What the heck are they!!!?

LifeIsHell · 09/03/2008 13:42

That's where stuff about Dr. Who/Bionicles, Transformers, Power Rangers or Pokemon would end up with my DS, Cod.

Agree a football would go down alright, though.

I think OP should run by her friend any ideas she wants to pursue, just to be sure. They are individuals, indiv. ideas what they like.
