I'm hosting my first barbecue this weekend for around 10, please can you give me some top tips to ensure the day runs smoothly, and also any food suggestions.

Prepare what you can in advance.
If people offer to bring something then take them up on it
Don't let your OH let you do all the work while they flip some burgers and take all the glory.

I cheat and cook everything in the oven first then finish it off on an electric bbq haha can't be doing with half cooked charcoaled meat!
Ask people to bring drinks!

Do all chicken in the oven then finish on the bbq. Otherwise just the normal prep in advance. Have lots of burgers/sausages, potato salad, veg skewers, beer/wine.

Choose a menu that can be prepped in advance

Use a propane bbq or find someone to run the charcoal who really knows what they are doing

Dont go overboard on 14 different meats, a burger and a piece of chicken breast is enough for most (with salads etc)

Dont food poison everyone 🤣
