Lunchboxes for kids party

I’m co-arranging a joint birthday party which will have approximately 60 kids in attendance. To cut down on waste and help with dietary requirements we are considering doing individual lunchboxes for each child. Would you find this naff and what would you expect to find in there?

For reference, the kids mostly go to a school where they have school dinners, no packed lunches allowed, so it’s a little bit of a novelty for them in that way.

Not naff at all, I'd do a roll, crisps, choc. Maybe have bowls out with some veg sticks/fruit in to help themselves to.

This is great way to do it. Keep it really simple sandwich , mini sausage roll, crisps, cupcake or biscuit. Probably veg sticks or fruit to ease parental guilt but these usually these get discarded.

All the parties mine have been to, including their own, have done this.

I did sandwiches, Pom bears, cucumber sticks and a mini bag of haribo. Lots of jugs of water for access all the time and a fruit shoot in the box.

We did this. With 60 you maybe don’t want too much choice but to save waste we asked for choices in advance. We put in:

a sandwich, choice of filling
biscuits (there was also cake at the party)
choice of crisps
then everyone got a choice of what they wanted from apple, satsuma, raisins or little cheese (they could have all or none of them, everyone chose at least 1).

Thanks so much you’ve put my mind at rest about it not being naff… I was wondering if we might get judgey side-eyes for not going all out with the buffet!

Some great ideas on the contents too.

I’ve done these before and they were a hit. I put in a half roll (they aren’t that fussed about the sandwich), crisps; individually wrapped snacks, eg party rings, mini rolls; a little box of raisins, a fun treat eg party blower, balloon, party popper etc and a napkin.

Basically things in individual portions so you can just buy what you need.
Baby bel would be another idea, possibly a party hat
