Hi, looking for ideas for a small present (max £20) to give to a young adult couple who are off travelling.

Dp's daughter and her boyfriend are heading off to Thailand, Cambodia and Japan for 3 months. Im invited to the going away party which is really sweet of them. My go to present for travellers is currency but that would definitely not be right. She's not a reader. It does need to be light. Am a bit stumped!

macaronip1e · 25/01/2023 23:29

Travel journal/diary - we had one when we were travelling that had pockets to keep tickets etc

Power pack for their phones?

I mean used tickets… things you might keep for a scrapbook

How about a waterproof pouch for keeping things dry at the beach? Some also work so that you can put your camera in them for underwater photography.

Years ago I would have suggested lonely planet guide books- but with the internet now, they aren't as popular.

Would they use a language guide book? Those small, pocket sized berlitz guides are good, but again, they would have internet now.

Travel toiletry bags? My PIL's cruise alot so I got them fold out type toiletry bags which have a hook- so could be used in a hostel, back of the bathroom door, over a shower screen etc. Similar to this but from amazon:

First aid kit- dioralyte, paracetamol, thermometer, plasters and basic dressings

A universal plug socket one that covers all the places they are going. We have one with USB ports also

British foodie kit- tea bags, squeezy marmite, twiglets, scampi fries or whatever they like as a snack

A solar-powered charger was a huge hit for my travelling DS -
Also Dock & Bay (or similar) micro fibre towels
LifeStraw do water bottles with filters for if water may not be 100% safe

Thank you all! I think a solar power pack might be the way forward.

Might consider a digital luggage scale as well.

I bought DD a solar power pack for his travels this year and he was delighted! Dd was a bit envious so she's getting one for her travels on her birthday! I might get myself one for my holidays!!
