Have invited people around and now not sure how to entertain them 🤦

I have a significant birthday coming up (50 😱). In a moment of wanting to mark the occasion, i invited some friends and their families around for the afternoon /evening (9 adults, 8 kids all between 8 and 15) . Now panicking about what to do with them -and regretting not doing an adult evening out!
Just worried that people coming around and just chatting may feel a bit under whelming to them and am thinking I should have arranged some entertainment, but have no idea what that could be !!! Anyone got any thoughts of what I could do?? House is a decent size so space not a problem, just what do you do with such annage span! Feel embarrassed for being this pathetic but am blaming the menopause that I feel at such a loss of what to do
!!

Relaxed dinner party for the adults (maybe murder mystery party if you think theyd find jt fun) and the kids given a room to themselves with buffet food, board games, Mario Kart and the ability to watch a film. If you have a firepit or similar outside then the evening can end with smores.

I'm sorry that my (probably lame) suggestion is the only one you've had!

Agree with pp, relaxed dinner for grown ups, kids room/s. For NY when we're doing something similar we are doing 5 courses and between each course we will do a small fun game. Depending on money could you get someone to cater so it feels special and you don't have to cook? Just get the kids some dominos, snacks and cakes!
