Hi this may seem a silly question but what is the norm here, ie my daughter is due to be baptisted next month and I have asked my friend to be godparent but is it the norm for me to buy her (the godmother) a gift?? Please advise as I dont want to 'get it wrong' or offend anyone.Thanks.

No, she buys one for her Godchild and in return you give her a good scoff with wine.

I didn't, don't think it's the norm but if you want to it's not bad or anything.

No gifts for godparents. Ours gave ds1 a gift and one set hosted the party. We will become godparents at Easter (well I will, dh is an atheist so will be unofficial) and are planning to help with food/drinks.

My goddaughter's parents gave me a bowl done at a pottery studio with her baby footprints and the christening date on. We gave our son's godparents framed photos from the christening.

I didn't buy gifts for DD's godsparents. But they did buy DD a gift.

Like the idea of giving a framed photo from the day itself!
