What to dress 8m DS in for his christening?!

As the title states really. In my family we've always worn the traditional long gown, so I assumed I'd do the same for my son. I was looking forward to seeing him in it, especially with the cute bonnet 😭

However, all our family christenings have been done when we were approx 6-8 weeks so there's no chance that a family gown is going to fit my 99th percentile 8mo 🙃

I was looking to buy a new one for him when my mum told me she thought it would be odd for an 8 month boy to wear one. She said I should just find a nice white outfit instead. It took me by surprise as my family does usually do everything the 'traditional' way. I'm curious if anyone agrees or disagrees with her?

And if you agree with her, any alternative outfit suggestions? I'm not a fan of adult-type clothes on babies, such as mini suits and things like that, so I'd rather steer away from those.

Thank you! X

My dd was 3 months and was Christained he wore a cream silk sailor suit looked so cute . But I didn’t take a pic of just him in it, the pics are all him being held so no one can really see it

What about something like this? www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-partners-baby-silk-christening-romper-cream/p3561346 I saw it when buying DDs christening dress and thought it looked lovely for a little boy. Especially if it's soon and the weather is good?

My son wore the John Lewis romper suit linked to above. He was about 6 months. It was adorable (although we had a pub lunch after to celebrate and I got him a different and slightly more baby-friendly outfit to change into after the service).
