3 year old party - is this enough ?

I know I am a fool to worry about a 3 year olds birthday party but I am so here goes.

DD has her party on saturday at the local leisure centre. An hour of soft play then an hour in the creche for tea etc.

I assume tea/cake could be stretched out for 30 mins ?? Then I have 30 mins to fill. Any suggestions ?

I have

  • pass the parcel
  • pin the tail on donkey (sticky tails from asda - marvellous !)
  • dancing (possibly musical bumps)
  • Have just read a thread with a '4 corners' game which sounds like it might work.

Will this fill the time or should we do something else.... ?

thanks in advance !

Pass the parcel and dancing with an option of pin the tail - anything more and you will have lost 3 yo's, IME. Add balloons to dancing as required.

Do you think that will fill the time though ?? Panic panic.

Don't forget that it will take a good 10 minutes to round them up from soft play / take them to the loo / get them sat down for tea.. and depending how many children you have, pass the parcel can easily last 10 minutes.

I think pin the tail on the donkey won't work with just 3 year olds, better to stick with games that they can all take part in at once, rather than turn-taking.

You probably already know this, but for pass the parcel make sure there is something little in each layer, not just the last layer.

BE prepared that some kiods might not want to participate and would rather just play with toys, will the creche have some?

How about finishing with something calm like story-time or songs?

thanks guys - true about the taking to the toilet etc (also am sure we won't be kicked off the bouncy castle slap bang on the hour).

Thanks for the pass the parcel tips - had got something for each layer. CUrrently deciding whether to do 1 big one (there are 20 children - not sure attention span will last that long), 1 small one and then have lucky dip for those who didn't get a layer or do 2 at the same time (might be a logistical nightmare). Hmmmmmmm....

Have asked leisure centre about toys and they weren't sure () - tbh I was hoping there would be toys as it will fill some time !

Songs might be fun - dd loves singing and stuff so might be a nice thing to do in the last 10 minutes.

Meant to say, the pin the tail on the donkey was v.c heap so I got it to hold in case something was needed ! Will keep it in packet just in case
