Hi All,

I thought about pieces of ballet/gymnastics outfit but I do not know her sizes. She is in my DS nursery.
The only ideas I had so far are dolls like this Our Generation Deluxe Doll Sydney Lee or BABY born Storybook Fairy
I was also thinking about a book about ballet but have not found age appropriate book yet.
Would appreciate any other ides.

Cath Kidston have some girls ballet pyjamas and t shirt on sale ATM (you could buy them deliberately big to grow in to) :

www.cathkidston.com/en-gb/search/?q=Girls+ballet+bag+&search-button=&lang=en_GB

If you have time, Not on the High Street have some nice personalised cotton drawstring ballet bags (search for girls drawstring ballet bag).

Or go in to any good toy shop, or on Amazon, and they will have a little musical box with a ballerina that twirls on the top. Or a little purse or zipped bag in to which you could put a ballerina bracelet, ballerina notebook etc (there are always ballerina themed items like that available).

Etsy have a nice toy with accessories called "a ballet mouse"

And crafts4kids have this nice ballerina puzzle in the right age range:

I’d go the other way and get her something active like a space hopper, hulahoop etc. It doesn’t matter if she already has one.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 19/06/2022 08:55

Whats the budget?

My dd loved a gymnastics ribbon. Or those usborn sticker books.

lollipoprainbow · 19/06/2022 08:57

I've just got my dd the Barbie gymnastic doll for her birthday.

MySleevesMayBeGreen · 19/06/2022 08:57

Personalised water bottle? Kids love stuff with their name on and they always need water at gymnastics.

springingup · 19/06/2022 09:01

Hobbycraft have money boxes that the children can paint. They come in a little set with paintbrush and paint. They might have a ballet themed one, or if not they have loads of different ones. I've always found them good for birthday presents as it's something nice for them to do.

mummyh2016 · 19/06/2022 09:04

We have the Sydney Lee doll, it's shit. DD doesn't play with it at all, biggest waste of money.
We did get her a barbie ballerina doll that she plays with though.

DustyTulips · 19/06/2022 09:06

Lottie doll (ballet version) or the gymnastics ribbon (which my dd absolutely loved at that age). Or Angelina Ballerina books, if she doesn’t have them already.

bluebunnyblue · 19/06/2022 09:08

There are some lovely books in The Story Orchestra series, gorgeous illustrations and my girls love the music....for a ballet lover there are a couple of classic ballet ones - Swan Lake and The Nutcracker eg Swan Lake

Blusteryday101 · 19/06/2022 09:15

Oh yes those Osborne sticker books are great!

Blusteryday101 · 19/06/2022 09:16

Argh Usborne not Osborne!

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 19/06/2022 09:18

Was going to suggest www.smythstoys.com/uk/en-gb/toys/fashion-and-dolls/barbie/barbie-gymnastics-playset-with-doll-and-accessories/p/184681?utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=surfaces_across_google&gclid=Cj0KCQjwkruVBhCHARIsACVIiOzHk6UW3HdOz0f6p2yt4s7qHR7EUA44fP51kdc5qFPpPRHKYk87ihsaAjPuEALw_wcB

but- if it’s just a kid in your friends class go spend £5-£10 at the works, forget what they are in to, just anything in budget

honeybushbunch · 19/06/2022 09:21

Agree with the ballet Lottie doll - my DD has one and it’s lovely.

Or have you thought of a classic musical jewellery box with a twirling ballet dancer figure? Djeco have gorgeous ones for around £20; or there are cheaper versions on Amazon.

honeybushbunch · 19/06/2022 09:22

This kind of thing:

Jewelkeeper Girl's Musical Jewellery Box with Spinning Ballerina with Pull-out Drawer, Glitter Design, Swan Lake Tune amzn.eu/8LxLpxg

PeekAtYou · 19/06/2022 09:28

If this is the party of a nursery friend then your budget is super high. £5-£10 is a more usual budget for friends at nursery/school.

balzamico · 19/06/2022 09:48

My kids had handles/ sticks with a long ribbon attached - both played with more than anything else even though ballet itself was a short lived phase! I think they came from a ballet/ dance shop.
Angelina Ballerina books were lovely

resuwen · 19/06/2022 10:12

Usbourne sticker dolly dress up books. They have various versions.

Lily7050 · 19/06/2022 11:46

Many thanks to everyone. Since I posted here I found Usbrone book and Ballerinas: Usborne Sticker Dolly Dressing Dolls and Ballerinas: Usborne Sticker Dolly Dressing and this book The Ballet Class.
My DS got one of The Story Orchestra books from another nursery friend for his birthday and I found the Nutcracker book The Story Orchestra: The Nutcracker Musical Storybook. I was looking for something like the Story Orchestra books but in 3D with pictures coming out of when pages open but have not found any.
I also found Nia Ballerina doll Nia Ballerina | Black Ballerina Doll | Ballet Gifts. I like Lottie doll because her legs and arms can be moved into ballet poses but the birthday girl is mixed race so I though Nia ballerina would be more appropriate than blonde Lottie doll.
I will order Usborne and The Ballet Class book and Nia doll and decide which one is better when they are delivered. In terms of budget the presents we received were between £15-£30 so I would go with this budget.

OP Would this Lottie doll be more suitable? Not quite ballet, but looks similar and not blonde.

Lily7050 · 19/06/2022 12:44

Thank you @DustyTulips ! I have just found this Lottie doll Lottie Spring Celebration Ballet Doll. If it comes with brown eyes it will look like the girl I am buying birthday present for.

Thank you @mummyh2016 for Sydney Lee doll review. They are quite expenses but do not look like they can do much.

DD used to love the Angelina Ballerina books.

Thank you @mummyh2016 for Sydney Lee doll review. They are quite expenses but do not look like they can do much.

DD just can't work out now to play with it. It's doll sized but it's not like a doll where she can pretend to feed it or push it in its pram. Plus it comes with this book and the story is very Americanised to the point where DD doesn't know what I'm talking about.

Latenightreader · 19/06/2022 13:50

The Story Orchestra books are lovely and several of them are ballet stories (Swan Lake, Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty). www.amazon.co.uk/Story-Orchestra-Swan-Lake/dp/0711241503/ref=sr_1_10?crid=27W12QAU2Y644&keywords=swan+lake&qid=1655642978&rnid=1642204031&s=books&sprefix=swan+lake%2Caps%2C75&sr=1-10

Really sorry, I missed that the suggestion had already been made...
