When would you open presents?

When would you open presents?

My oldest is turning three his month and we booked an overnight stay at LEGOLAND Windsor staying in a pirate theme room . We are a short 40 minute drive away. The plan is to wake up on his birthday, have breakfast at home and head to LEGOLAND first thing . The rides opens at 10:00 but ideally we would like to be much earlier as we can drop our bags off at the hotel reception and get early entry into the park .

My question is : presents in the morning before we leave or in the evening at the hotel ?

From seeing him open presents at Christmas, he will open them at lightening speed . However, he is a good sleeper and can easily sleep in until 8am so that will be a rushed morning if he does sleep in ( 50/50 if he will. Otherwise he will be up for 7am) . I wouldn’t want to wake him up early as he will need all the sleep but I guess I could .

My other concern with opening presents in the morning is we will need to head off asap
to Legoland so the poor boy won’t get much opportunity to play with them . I thought we could bring a few with us for in the hotel after though . If we open them in the evening then we will need to bring all the presents with us which isn’t that big of a deal. It’s a jam packed day though and to fit that in between the park, the splash pad, our dinner booked , the excitement of a themed hotels etc will be a bit rushed .

So what would you do ?

I would take a present with you and have it in the hotel when you get back. His main present is going to Legoland and staying in the Lego hotel isn't it?

@Clymene very true but tell that to our extended family and friends who love to spoil him 😆!

Well is the whole family going with you? If not then I'd take a couple there and the rest at home. Or open them the night before?

One present in the morning, and the rest after the day in the park

I'd take one or two and leave the rest at home to open when you get back. He's 3, he really isn't going to know which day his birthday is, or what is 'normal' in terms of what happens when.

I'd have him open ours on the day either before Legoland or take it/them with us ( depending on time he gets up etc).
I'd leave the others at home for him to enjoy when he gets back.
It will make his Birthday last longer...
