OOOHH, I always make a lizard/crocodile for my kids out of a cucumber. They love it.

Let me know if you want instructions!

Snacks - cheeseboard for adults, crisps and dips including carrots, bread sticks, peppers and celery, wee boxes of raisins for the littlies, grapes and stawberries, iced shortbread biscuits, cupcakes, marshmallow "top hats".

I like to set it all out buffet style and let people help themselves.

Cakes - hmmm, ds had a Thomas cake for his 2nd b'day and he loved it, but i'm not sure I'd do it again! Maybe go for a lovely gooey choc cake and put a toy of the rest he'd love (so Thomas train, noddy car etc) on top.

Enjoy!

Yes for the cake I'd just make a big chocolate cake, loads of icing and sprinkle it with buttons/smarties..adults always wolf that down. Do some sausages on sticks too, grown ups love them.

Yes, slice your cucumber, leaving about a 2 inch section for the lizards head. Also, leave about a 2 inch section intact in the middle of the cucumber (which you'll use for the legs).

Take the 2 inch leg section out and arrange the body and head so they look just like a snake (loooks better if you curve the body slightly). Stick currants to the head (using jam) for his eyes.

Cut the 2 inch leg section into quarters (lengthways - like you would if you were doing carrots sticks). To make each leg, get a sharp knife and carve out a 1 inch leg with claws on the end.

Do this for each leg and then place all 4 legs in the appropriate place aginst the snake body you have..and voila--A crocodile/lizard!!

Not as complicated as it sounds honest!! Only takes 5 mins to do.
