Hey all, i need to buy a bottle of red wine for a xmas present but i have no idea about wine, can someone tell me what a good red wine is??

Safest ones for quality are New World - Australia, S America, S Africa, or N America (in that order for me )

Any of the Wolf Blass varietals (Australia) should be good and not too expensive (c £6-8)
