It's Mum's 80th very soon. I've asked if there's anything special she'd like. In reply, she said all she wants is for me to take her to a couple of garden centres, which will have happen the Saturday before or after, as only day I don't work.
She apparently doesn't want to go anywhere smart for a meal or a fancy cake. I'm thinking a meal outside at our local pub, just myself, DH & hopefully DD (although DD won't be able to do it on her birthday as has a 24 hour uni exam). We do have other relatives, but none of us have mixed inside yet and we know they'll be the pressure to drive to them and eat inside, which my Mum has said she really doesn't want.
Does anyone have any ideas for presents? I could get her something at the garden centre, but want to give her something on the day. I know I'm going to get flowers and suggest meeting in town for coffee in the morning before I go to work.
Does the pub idea sound a bit simple? At some point we will give her a smallish 80th cake.
