Its my mum and dads anniversary soon and we won't be seeing them on the day, which I feel really bad about, we live a couple of hundred miles away from them.
Anyway, I'm looking for inspiration for what to do for them or get them for a suitable gift. I wanted to arrange for us all to get together and get a family photo done, but my sister and her husband can't afford this.
Any other ideas?

You can get Ruby Wedding rose bushes - they are beautiful red roses. We got mum & dad one for the garden

I was going to suggest the same as Whizz, spooky!

Thanks Whizz, the rose sounds perfect, but I wouldn't have thought you could get them this time of year, and can you plant them this time of year?
RubyRioja, an informal photo may well be the way to go, thanks for that

You can prob still get the roses now but they will only look like a pruned back stick I guess !

If they have a PC, you could make a digi photo/ movie thing with music or failing that a scrapbook of family pics ??

What about a Ruby Wedding 'hamper' type of thing, including maybe a photo frame in a deep red colour, Cherry Bubble Bath, Champagne (preferably with a red label!), red box of chocs., red candle etc. Lots of things for them both to enjoy.

You can get ruby glass

IF they drink, how about some Ruby Port? I bought my mum and dad a bottle of that for theirs - mind you my brother and I did throw them a surprise party as well

Other stuff you could do if you have the time is get hold of as many of their friends, and other relatives as possible who were at the actual wedding and ask them for any memories, comments or pics they have, go on Ebay and see what you can get in the way of mags and newspapers from the day of the wedding, and make a kind of 40 years memory box.
