Quick question needing quick answer as my dts party starts at 3pm [grin]

As I said they are having a small party, they and their friends are either three or about to turn three, plus their older brother who is four has two of his friends coming the same age.
Question:
Do you think musical bumps or musical chairs is the best bet? I think bumps would be easier for younger ones to follow, but maybe chairs being taken away would make it easier for them to understand they are out?

Doesn't really matter too much you know, its only a childrens party, but I just can't decide

Bumps is so hard to spot who is out though. Chairs is pretty obvious.

SuperMonkey · 20/10/2007 14:31

Chairs, as long as you have enough

Yes that was my thinking, but then again, you can just let the younger ones carry on dancing with bumps, and it doesn't really matter. Whereas once their chair is gone, yeah they know they are out, but sometimes they cry about it iyswim
Oh well, I can do both of course

bumps - less hassle - ask those who are out to help you judge - it softens the blow.

Sleeping lions just before food - calms them down

you are both not helping

oooh no,not chairs, bumps.
They fight for the chairs and get upset, and with bumps you can be a bit "creative" about who's out, no-one will know.

indignatio - thats a good idea, do you just see who can sleep (i.e stay still) the longest?

Hee hee, the Mumsnet jury is as divided about this as me, I think I will just wing it. I've got enough prizes for both if I want

yes - to the staying still question

AnnabelCaramel · 20/10/2007 14:40

Sleeping lions AFTER food - then they sleep!!

Katymac · 20/10/2007 14:43

Do chairs but on cushions spread about the floor

Easy to remove
Effective way of indicating when they are out
Safe

Well thats over for another year. We did chairs with the usual chaos that that entails.
Went well, dts seemed to enjoy it and haven't thrown up all the cake/chocolate and crisps yet. So all in all a sucess
